Jeremy Martin
Jeremy Martin
Vice President of Engineering

In his career, Jeremy worked his way through the engineering ranks from wellsite supervisor to drilling superintendent. He developed a reputation for consistently delivering wells on time and under budget while maintaining some of the highest safety standards in the industry. His engineering experience ranges from the Gulf of Mexico Shelf HTHP wells to horizontal wells in the Cotton Valley, Haynesville, Eagleford, Eaglebine, James Lime, and Tuscaloosa Marine Shale.

His strong engineering experience gives him the ability to handle well planning and drilling operations in any place in the US. Jeremy loves the challenge of drilling wells and enjoys the “teamwork” aspect of the process the most. His people skills and knowledge allow him to keep team members focused on the task at hand and get the job done! He holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Dale Nace
Vice President of Operations

Dale began his 22-year career at the field level and has worked his way to Vice President of Operations. Dale has extensive knowledge and experience in horizontal, directional, and vertical well drilling. He has drilled HTHP wells, extended reach laterals, and is familiar with all types of drilling fluids, down-hole tools, and drilling techniques. As the supervisor of a 10-rig operation, Dale cut costs and streamlined the drilling process while maintaining a safe working environment.

Dale also manages the completion / production side of operations; a vast knowledge of all operational aspects allows adaptability to the challenges at hand and produces incredible results. Dale is a proven leader, molded through experience. His professionalism and mentoring skills make him an excellent asset to any program.
Jeff Hardin
Jeff Hardin
VP Business Development

Jeff Hardin is an East Texas native and a second-generation oilman. He began his career in the East Texas oil fields in 1977 at the age of 18 roughnecking for Delta Drilling Company. While working for Delta from 1977 to 1980, he attended the Tyler Junior College and majored in petroleum technology. From 1980 to 1985, he worked full time for Delta, working his way from floors to driller in 2 years.

Jeff began his sales career working for Hughes Tool Company in 1986 before beginning his 18-year career with Security DBS, a subsidiary of Halliburton, from 1988 to 2006. At Security DBS, Jeff served as an account representative in Dallas and Houston before assuming the role of Southeast Operations Manager of the United States. From 2006 until 2008, he became one of the owners and the Operations Manager of Tomahawk Energy Services, where he provided surface and sub-surface rental items to clients in the drilling industry.

Jeff’s prior experience in the oil and gas industry has prepared him for his current position with SDS Petroleum Consultants. He currently manages all marketing, sales, and recruiting functions for SDS. Jeff is also active in the community, serving on various committees and boards of nonprofit organizations.
Matthew Bailey

Geologist — Independent Contractor

Matthew completed a Bachelor of Science degree in geology in 2009, after receiving a Masters of Business Administration from the Stephen F. Austin State University in 2005. His academic achievements are important contributors to the success he enjoys as a contract geologist with geo-steering experience in Haynesville, Bossier, Utica, Eagleford Shale, Cotton Valley Sand, and Mississippi Lime. He has been responsible for the geology on up to 4 wells at a time, mapping and analyzing formation hazards and depths, detailed log analyses, and well planning and drilling and completion procedures throughout the East Texas and Louisiana.
Tom Bailey

Completion Manager — Independent Contractor

Tom's career began with Halliburton in 1974. During his 32-year tenure with Halliburton, Tom developed a particular expertise in the areas of cased hole stimulation, completion operations, and fracturing design. Proficient in all aspects of on-site well management, Tom spent 4 years in New Mexico for Halliburton as the manager of HRM and TCP Facilities. In addition to managing on-site crews, he is accomplished in the areas of field design and execution for stimulation, acid, casing, and completion operations. Tom worked on all product lines as an account leader and technical advisor. After leaving Halliburton in 2006, he managed the completion operations for 14 rigs in the Haynesville Shale for EOG Resources.
Paul Hene

Petrophysicist — Independent Contractor

Paul is a recent addition to the SDS team. Paul’s expertise as a petrophysicist allows SDS to more accurately evaluate, engineer, and program operations for our clients. Paul obtained his Bachelor of Science in physics from the Auburn University in 1978 and entered the oil and gas industry immediately after graduation. Paul began his career at Schlumberger as a field engineer, rapidly progressing to general field engineer, where he was charged with ensuring the quality of petrophysical data provided to the clients.

Paul transitioned into a sales engineer position for Schlumberger, where he continued to evaluate and interpret log data for operators primarily in the East Texas and along the Gulf Coast, as well as providing schools for Schlumberger’s sales team and customers. Paul remained with Schlumberger as an operations district manager in Southern Arkansas, then as a log analyst and sales engineer based in Tyler, Texas for the last 29 years. Paul now provides his 37 years of knowledge to multiple operators, as an independent contractor.
Donnie Martin
Donnie Martin
Project Management — Independent Contractor

Donnie has 40 years of oil field experience, 32 of which have been with the same company. He has been a part of the evolution of industry practices and standards from the "hands-on" viewpoint of rig-based drilling foreman to that of making decisions from a corporate level.

Donnie's unique background has resulted in his involvement in over 2,000 wells in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. His drilling experience includes everything from vertical SWD to horizontal wells in the Cotton Valley, Haynesville Shale, and James Lime. He has also overseen location construction, site remediation, workover, and completion operations. Donnie has mentored many young engineers and has people skills that make him a pleasure to have as a productive part of the team. He still loves the challenge involved in the process of drilling.
Ken Pixley

Construction Superintendent — Independent Contractor

Ken has over 45 years of experience ranging from wrenching rods on a workover rig to managing a multi-jackup operation in West Africa. His expertise and experience have allowed him the opportunity to oversee location construction on every terrain imaginable, including desert, jungle, mountain, and open plains. His highly developed interpersonal skills ensure every job is conducted smoothly and efficiently. He has worked with all types of well geometry and BHA / Bit configurations, and has worked on high-pressure / high-temperature wells and most types of drilling fluids.
Jed Rowe
Jed Rowe 
Independent Contractor

Jed brings his 32 years’ experience assessing environmental concerns in the oil and gas industry to the SDS team. Jed is an invaluable tool that allows SDS to provide a unique service to our clients and a service that could save an operator tens of thousands of dollars in fines. Jed specializes in wetland, WUS determination, and delineation surveys. He also handles WUS mitigation, wetland restoration and enhancement, and threatened and endangered species surveys and assessments. Jed also will ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and legislation, including the Endangered Species and Clean Water Acts.

Jed has conducted over 51,000 wetlands determinations and surveyed over 200 listed endangered species across 37 different states. Jed will also obtain permits for authorization as needed. Jed has also represented operators in court and successfully demonstrated compliance with regulations and has negotiated penalties with government agencies. Jed received his Bachelor of Science in agriculture from the Texas A&M University in 1984 and was conferred a Master of Science in biology and plant ecology from the Stephen F. Austin State University in 1991. Jed is also a USACE-certified wetland delineator.
Shannon Yates

Business Development and Recruiting

Shannon began his oilfield career selling drill bits and downhole tools all over East Texas and Northwest Louisiana. He moved into the role of an HSE consultant setting drilling and completion jobs in South Texas and South Louisiana.

Currently, Shannon serves in the recruiter / business development role. He acquires, vets, and markets SDS' roster of contractors. He also maintains a database of available candidates. Shannon received his B.A. from the Stephen F. Austin State University, attending on a full athletic scholarship. He started 4 straight years for the Lumberjack football team, as well as being a Dean’s List student.
Chad Huckaby
Chad Huckaby 
Account Manager Denver / Mid-Continent

Chad joined the SDS team in April 2017 managing accounts in the Denver and Mid-Continent markets. Chad began his oilfield career roughnecking for Greywolf Drilling. Chad was drilling for Greywolf in 2000 when he left to join Smith Bits. Chad sold drill bits over a large territory, which included North Louisiana, Southern Arkansas, and East Texas. In 2004 Chad was promoted to the position of a Technical Sales Representative, calling on offices in Mississippi, North Louisiana, Southern Arkansas, Dallas, Houston, and East Texas. 

In 2007 Chad became the District Manager of Smith Bits in the Ark-La-Tex division, which at one point had over 300 active drilling rigs. In 2011, Chad moved to Denver, CO, and assumed the role of a Senior District Manager in a division with 350 active drilling rigs, a revenue plan of $100 million annually, 17 field service hands, 5 technical sales representatives, 3 engineers, and administrative staff. Chad left Smith in 2012 and joined Ulterra Drilling Technologies as a National Account Manager in the Oklahoma City office.
